At Christmas 2013 the members of the session formed a Christmas band to play carols and other Christmas music in Rest Homes around Malta.
We have an interest in medieval music and so we play all our Christmas music, including traditional carols, in a lively medieval style - remembering that "carolling" was originally a form of dance.
We have over 60 pieces of percussion which we have collected over the years including maraccas, tambourines, morris bells, rattles and so on. We have some unusual items, including bunches of llama's toenails from South America. We hand these out to the audience so that they become part of the band and can join in even if they don't sing. The percussion always gets an enthusiastic reception.
